Valuation is not insurance — it is the level of the mover's liability for loss or damage. Federal law gives you two options, and you choose which one applies to your move before we load. Read this alongside Your Rights & Responsibilities.
Included at no cost. The carrier's liability is limited to 60¢ per pound, per article. This is economical, but it does not reflect the actual value of your goods — a 10-lb item is covered up to $6.00 regardless of what it's worth. You must accept this option in writing.
Under Full Value Protection, if an article is lost or damaged, Hermes Moving LLC will, at our option, repair it, replace it with a like item, or make a cash settlement for the item's current market replacement value — up to the total declared value of your shipment.
Your selection is recorded on your estimate and bill of lading before loading. If you do not choose Full Value Protection in writing, your shipment moves under Released Value (60¢/lb). Exact valuation charges and minimums are set out in Hermes Moving LLC Tariff No. 1, available on request.
If something is lost or damaged, see our Claims & complaints page. Claims must be filed in writing within 9 months of delivery.
Summary only — full terms govern per Hermes Moving LLC Tariff No. 1 and your bill of lading. U.S. DOT No. 7557875 · MC 65918920 (pending).
